Gavin joined the Isle of Man Ship Registry in 2022 after building a career at sea as a marine engineer. Originally from South Africa, Gavin has worked across a wide variety of vessels including container ships, diamond mining vessels, offshore anchor handling and supply ships, and even what was, at the time, the largest motor yacht in the world. He spent the final seven years of his seagoing career serving as Chief Engineer, gaining valuable experience in both operations and leadership.

At the Registry, Gavin works as a Senior Ship Surveyor, carrying out inspections and audits on commercial ships, yachts, and fishing vessels. He enjoys meeting people across the industry and sharing his hands-on knowledge to help ship owners and operators maintain the highest standards. Gavin is also passionate about promoting the Isle of Man’s strong maritime industry and showcasing the Island as a trusted and forward-looking home for shipping.

Outside of work, Gavin loves travelling, exploring nature on hikes, and spending time with family and friends.
