Isle of Man Register - Part I

Part I of the register is available for registration of merchant vessels. It records title and offers the facility to register a mortgage against a vessel.

The registration procedure is straightforward, and detailed instructions can be found on RAN 01.

Please see below for the list of forms and documents required for registration of a merchant ship:

  1. Application to Register (Reg 01)
  2. Appointment of Authorised Officer (Reg 03)
  3. Declaration of Ownership (Body Corporate) (Reg 04)
  4. Appointment of Representative Person** (Reg 05)
  5. Bill of Sale if required* (Reg 06)
  6. Builders’ Certificate if new build* (Reg 12)
  7. Certificate of Incorporation
  8. Certificate of Survey***
  9. Tonnage Certificate
  10. Deletion Certificate (if previously registered)
  11. CLC Blue Card (Oil Tankers Only)
  12. Bunker Oil Blue Card (if vessel over 1000 GT)
  13. Nairobi Wreck Removal Certificate (if vessel over 300 GT)

*These documents must be notarised if executed outside the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or British Dependencies

**Vessels over 24m in length if owned by a non-Isle of Man entity require the appointment of a local representative person, see RAN 15
