ANNUAL CARGO SHIP REGISTRATION FEE

The following Annual Registration Fees are only applicable to Cargo Ships (vessels which are not Passenger Ships, Commercial Yachts, fishing vessels, small ships or Pleasure Yachts).

This fee is payable by all vessels on the register on the 1st of April each year.

The fee is payable on a pro-rata basis by any vessel registering after the 1st of April, this is calculated on a daily basis.

For example a 54,000 gt vessel registering on the 22nd of December 2023 would pay a pro-rata fee of £1,657.53 on registration. (£6,050 ÷ 365 x 100).

ANNUAL PASSENGER SHIP REGISTRATION FEE

The annual fee payable by a Passenger Ship (or Passenger High Speed Craft) is set at £2,250.

A discount of 50% is due on this fee if the vessel is technically managed from the Isle of Man and an additional discount of up to 15% is available if the vessel meets the ‘Green Ship’ criteria. Please see our Fee Discounts page for further information.

SURVEY/AUDIT FEES

The Annual Registration Fee includes all fees for General Inspections carried out by the Isle of Man except for the Initial General Inspection and any additional inspection required outside of the normal requirements.

This fee does not include any fees charged by a Recognised Organisation for work they may complete.

The charges for a pre-registration survey, Initial General Inspection or additional inspection are as follows:

Surveyor travel (including cost of visas) and any port to ship or ship to port transfers Charged at cost

PASSENGER SHIPS

Passenger ships are treated somewhat differently when it comes to fees for survey and audit, with fees being based on a ‘daily rate’ plus the cost of Surveyors travel and subsistence. Current fees for work within the Isle of Man are £810 per day and £1,530 per day anywhere else in the world. Surveyor down time (travelling or waiting) is charged at £585 per day no matter where. Passenger Ship Safety Certificates are issued by the Ship Registry and incur a fee of £394.

A fee of £500 per day is payable for regulatory compliance assistance with the development of novel designs or equivalent arrangements (or similar) for a cargo or passenger ship.

This fee is based on a 7.5 hour day. Surveyor travel and subsistence (including cost of visas) associated with Regulatory Compliance Assistance will be charged at cost.
